The AAPG's Rocky Mountain Section represents members who work in a geology related capacity within Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico (apart from the southeast region), Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.
An annual meeting is held by the RMS in conjunction with its 11 affiliated organizations at various sites across the Rocky Mountain region. The exploration and production of hydrocarbons today, unconventional resources, developments in structural geology and stratigraphy, resource potential in a geologic context, geophysical and rock mechanics advancements, and related political and legal challenges are some of the subjects covered.
